Polymorphism Description:  One of 13 CODIS Core STR markers. This compound STR with non-consensus repeats is located between nucleotides 1640-1794 in intron 40 of VWF locus at chromosome 12p12-pter. (Kimpton et al., 1992) [PubMed ID: 1303199]

Allelic nomenclature is based on the number of repeat units within the TCTA(TCTG)3-6(TCTA)n structure. (Lazaruk et al., 2001) [PubMed ID: 11348787]
