Polymorphism Description: Polymeropoulos et al. suggested that the basic sequence structure was (AAAG) _n-(AAAAAG)-(AAAG)₁₄ and alleles differed by a regular 4bp repeat. The larger allele with the hexamer motif AAAAAG are designated by a suffix (.2) to indicate the presence of an incomplete repeat unit.
