Sample Description:This sample consists of Ezhavas residing in the Kollam district of Kerala state on the south-west coast of India. They speak 'Malayalam', which belongs to the Dravidian family of languages. Ezhavas are the largest single Hindu community of the Kerala state and practice agriculture as their basic occupation.

Sample Description:This sample consists of Muslims residing in the Kollam district of Kerala state on the south-west coast of India. They speak 'Malayalam', which belongs to the Dravidian family of languages. Muslims form a significant religio-ethnic group of the state. Muslims of Kollam district analysed in the present study are largely traders and follow the Shafi school of the Sunni sect of Islam.
