Polymorphism Description: One of 13 CODIS Core STR markers. This simple tetranucleotide STR with non-consensus repeats is located on chromosome 11 within intron 1 of the tyrosine hydroxylase gene(TH)[Polymeropoulos et al. 1991]

The sequence motif is (AATG)_n and allelic nomenclature is based on the number of repeat units.
