Polymorphism Description: One of 13 CODIS Core STR markers. This tetranucleotide repeat polymorphism has a complex sequence structure composed of TCTA/TCTG repeats (Brinkmann et al. 1996, Moller et al. 1994 and Urquhart et al. 1994).

The common sequence motif is (TCTA)_n(TCTG)_n(TCTA)₃TA(TCTA)₃TCA(TCTA)₂TCCA TA(TCTA)_n (Sacchetti L, et al 1999).

The nomenclature used for allele designation is after Moller et al (1994).
