Sample Description: This sample consists of unrelated Ecuadorian Mestizos. Samples were collected by the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Central University of Ecuador, and by the Laboratory of Human Genetics, Department of Biology and Biotechnology L. Spallanzani, University of Pavia, Italy. Informed Consent was signed by every sample donor, and all samples were anonymised. The study was approved by the ethical committee of the Capital Region of Denmark (H-1-2011-081) and complies with the ethical principles of the 2000 Helsinki Declaration of the 2006 World Medical Association. Samples were only used for research purposes. The Mestizo comprises almost 85% of the Ecuadorian population, and is a Spanishspeaking admixed group with European and Native Amerindian (NAM) ancestry.
